
M. G. Radhakrishnan was a senior music director in the South Indian film and music industries. He was born on 8 August 1937 at Haripad, in Alapuzha District, Kerala. He is a disciple of Sree Vidyadhiraja Hridayanjali,[1] an Indian ascetic, and has composed music for ascetic's lyrics,[1] which was sung by his younger sister Dr. K Omanakutty,[1] a Carnatic vocalist. In his official capacity, Mr.Radhakrishnan worked as a staff and become the senior music composer(grade 1) in Akashvani, Trivandrum. In 1962,he joined All India Radio.
He has also composed the poems of Kamala Das (also known as Kamala Surayya), a famous Indian writer.[2] Radhakrishnan introduced K. S. Chithra, a singer and a student of Omanakutty, to the film and music industry by employing her in the film Attahaasam.[3][4] His brotherM. G. Sreekumar is an Indian playback singer in Malayalam and Tamil cinema.[5]
He bagged Kerala State Film Award for best music director for the film Achaneyanenikkishtam in 2001 and Ananthabhadram in 2005. He died on 2nd July 2010 at a Private Hospital. He was serious at the last days, although on his friends' visits, he behaved as if he were at home. The death was at 1.45 afternoon as per the Medical college report. As his brother "M.G Sreekumar" was in an American trip, he couldn't participate at M.G.Radhakrishnan's funeral because it was fixed very adjacent.
